Elbows, also known as "Gomiti" in Italian, is named for its twisted tubular shape. Pasta elbows originated from Northern and Central Italy, where they are traditionally used in soups. The Barilla Protein+™ version is ridged with an extra twist, giving it a more sophisticated shape that also helps to hold sauce. Add a generous pinch of sea salt to the cooking water to enhance the pasta’s flavor.

Avoid adding oil to the water as it prevents sauce from clinging to the pasta.

COOKING YOUR PASTA

Cook Barilla Protein+™ Elbows in boiling water for 7 minutes, then drain and serve according to the recipe directions. For more tender pasta, boil an additional minute. Due to its higher protein content, Protein+™ takes several more minutes to cook than traditional pasta.
